Northeast Texas Women
Gay Ellis's class in Dallas, Texas, thoroughly enjoyed the Jimmy Buffett song, "Northeast Texas Women," in the Island Girls 2007 session.  They particularly loved singing out loud the line, "Them Dallas women standin' up beat the others lyin' down"!

Front row (L to R):  Pam Myers, Susan Hall, Gay Ellis (instructor), Brenda Stansell, Jean Buchanan, Peaches Eipper
Back row:  Jann Skelton, Beth Locke, Nancy Montgomery, Joan Kayla, Mary Lee, Julie Oakes, Jewel Parrish, Trisha Aiklen, Nancy Henderson, Dorothy Woods

Nancy Franich's Aerobic Dancing and StrongStep students in Los Altos, California, took the Winter 2004 theme, A World of Good, to heart and worked on a community project each month of the session.  Click here to read their inspirational story.

Happy Anniversary to Kazuko Fujii, instructor in Japan, on her 20th Anniversary of teaching.  Kazuko celebrated the event with the local students and instructors for a big celebration.  Click here to see photos of the event.  Congratulations, Kazuko!

Jacki's Students in New York Raise $6,500 for AHA
Jacki's instructor, Diane Hart (center right), and affiliate, Jeanette Mock  (center left), pose in the rain with the Hart to Heart Fitness/Jacki's Heart Walk Team. The October 15, 2005 walk marks the 11th year that the walk team has participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk, and the 13th year that Diane Hart has warmed up the crowd with Vertifirm™ from Jacki's Aerobic Dancing program. An all-time record donation of $6,500 was raised in Diane's and Jeanette's classes from their students.  Since heart disease is still the number one killer of women (and men) in the United States, it is wonderful to align ourselves with the American Heart Association, where so much wonderful work is accomplished with the donations.  Congratulations to all walkers and family, friends, and students who were so generous!

Taking the Show on the Road
On June 9, 2005, residents at Wardwell Assisted Living in Saco, Maine, enjoyed a performance by Karan Miller's demonstration/performance dance team, which visits local nursing homes. The room had been decorated for the upcoming 4th of July holiday, and everyone was feeling patriotic.  The ten-member dance team is all-volunteer and does about 35 performances per year.

The Show Must Go On!
Karan Miller's Falmouth, Maine Aerobic Dancing class danced in the parking lot when the power went out townwide just as they were about to go to the floor for ab work.  They did the abs on the floor without music, then headed outside for Vertifirm and low-impact dancing done to music running from Karan's car CD player, because "the show must go on!"
